SURFACE DESIGN ARY- OBDF 210A

The final product after curves being removed ^^

and below is the tesselated version of my design,

I started this design as I would any other drawing/ painting in my practice-- intuitively without an absolute plan-- I had some inspiration from the real world; the repetition in the industrial designs I saw day to day: gridded air vents, carpets that are tiled, clothes with tesselated patterns.  I wanted to make a design that was somewhat figurative though as that intuitively interests me.

I had some struggles when it came to hatching as I had lots of open curves I had to touch up on and that was where I learned that I have to be very exact with my lines and how they close in order to paint the picture the way it was in my head.
